For a straightforward copy edit (just mechanics), rates are often lower, though I like to see a sample to determine the scope.

Proofreading (Step 3)

This is a final check for errors in spelling, punctuation, grammar, and formatting. For self-publishing writers, this typically comes after the book has been formatted for publication.

Manuscript Evaluation

This is an extensive write-up focusing on key areas for improvement. An assessment is more affordable than a line-by-line developmental edit and is a great option for writers on a budget. If you’re just looking for some thoughts (i.e. 2-3 pages of feedback), we offer beta reads at a reduced rate (.008/word).
Deliverables include a thorough editorial letter and free follow-up meeting to discuss.
